A long one

Wow, time seems to have flown by, I hadn't realised how long it had been since my last post. Lots to share :)
Knitting news!
I knitted another hat with my hand spun yarn, just simple rib brim and stocking stitch hat. With a crazy barber polled hand spun I wanted no pattern distractions.
I made myself some socks using opal yarn, with contrasting heels and toes, knit on 2.25mm I did a modified bootstrap sock.
I finally cast on my first Hogwarts house socks. I don't yet have my house colours, so although (according to pottermore) I'm Ravenclaw, I had to start with Hufflepuff colours. I love how they've turned out and am looking forward to having all 4 house colours to wear :)
I volunteered to test knit another pattern by Sally Jane, this is the Schrodinger's hat and it was nice to knit. It had a rhythm to it and the pattern kept it from getting boring but wasn't so difficult that you had to focus solely on it. I'm hoping to make more of these and will share on my social media when the pattern is released.
I made my first shop sample, knitted for my local yarn shop (habberdashey). The yarn is James C Brett northern lights double knit (150g), and it's intended for a triangular shaped shawl (pattern inside the ball band).
I made the villemo scarf with 5mm needles and love how the yarn looks in this. The subtle changes of colour stripe nicely and don't get too thin as the shape isn't very deep.
I also made a simple stocking stitch hat on 4mm needles with the same ball, two items for the price of one; great if you're gift knitting on a budget :) I love the subtle stripes with no harsh lines.
I made my mum some vanilla latte socks on 2.25mm with regia yarn (from their garden effects collection) in the summer colourway.
I've a few projects on the go at the moment, first up are my herbology socks (by the knitting expat) knit with jellybeans yarns in the seahorse nebula colourway, and 2.25mm needles again :)

Pudsey, my son has a sudden love of Pudsey bear from children in need. Of course he asked for me to make him one, so after a rummage in my stash and giving him a few options, the yarn was wound, and cast on :) I'm using the Bonnie wee mouse pattern (by Susan Claudino) for the body, but will need to modify the ears and add a bandana (with dinosaurs as my son likes that one best from the lost bandana story on CBeebies story time app)
I also have like a leaf on the wind scarf on the needles but I've no pictures yet. I frogged my auspice (it'd been on the needles at least a year) and am using that yarn. It's by babylonglegs in her after the storm colourway, it's been in my stash years and I used the aran weight version to knit a hat and fingerless mitts years ago, about time I tried finishing the set lol
Goodies!
I've been fairly good at buying less yarn this year, I'm still allowing myself some but trying to show some restraint as well.
Mother of purl stopped dyeing last year so when she advertised a pre-order for her daddy's little monster colourway I jumped at it, wonderfully soft and geeky references always sway me :)
Catch up:
Hope life has been treating you all well. The snowy weather had me stuck in for most of last week as my son couldn't get into school, but it gave me lots of crafting time :)
I've also joined slimming world this year and am hoping to lose a bit if weight and get a bit fitter, my health depends on it and I can't believe I let myself get so bad.
Happy Crafting!
