Yarndale 2016!

Yay! I got to Yarndale again :) it was super busy and tiring but so worth it :)
I went a little crazy but still came in under budget so it's ok lol I got a split of yarns (mostly fingering but some DK) and fibres.
My haul! :) The top left is all the yarn I bought :) All are new to me dyers or bases so at least I'm not just adding the same stuff as last year to stash lol Featured is; five, moons, laxtons, easy knits, Freyalyn's hand dyed, and Rosies's moments.
All my fibre was from adelaide walker or John Arbon textiles, I got 100g of all but two, the adelaide walker BFL and John Arbon cappuccino I got 200g each.
Sorry for the short post, it's been a long weekend...my son hasn't been sleeping well and didn't like my leaving him with family so I could go to Yarndale. I'm sure I'll catch up soon but in the mean time my back and arms are killing and I need a day or twos rest, not that I'll get them lol

Frankensock love :)

Knitting news!
How freaking awesome are these...? I'm in Frankensock love lol These are knit with 5 different opal sock yarn colourways. I changed yarns randomly and tried to have some similar shades within multiple minis (technically left overs lol). I am so happy with the finished pair, even with all the extra ends to weave in lol I knit them toe up on 2.25mm needles and used the fish lips kiss heel :)
Spinning news!
I finished the countess ablaze vengeance 2ply, 95g 131m and I really like how it turned out, I wish there was a little more yardage but it looks and feels lovely :)
I started a Wenselydale/Gotland blend from Sara's texture crafts, it's strange, both grippy and yet easy to spin, it's coming out very thick and thin but it's been a fun fibre to play with.
Second half of the Wenselydale/Gotland singles...
Sewing news!
That's right..it doesn't come often but I did a little sewing. I attempted to make a basic children's doll lol the result is a bit laughable to me but it does have a basic doll shape lol I'm hoping it'll look better when I get round to making it clothes and deciding how to do the face lol

Update

Knitting news!
I finished my hello gorgeous fingerless mitts, I used the yarn tree sw merino/nylon in the life's a beach colourway and 2.25mm needles (2.5mm for the cast off). The cast off is a little tighter than I'd like over the fingers...I'm really bad at loose cast offs :(
I also made a very chunky zuzu's petals cowl in my handspun, this is for my mum, it's quite heavy so she'll probably be too warm in it lol I used 6mm needles and a 6.5mm for the bind off.
I started some scrappy socks using my left over opal yarns...I love how these are turning out :) I'm using 2.25mm needles and going toe up...not my norm (and might be a mistake coz the last toe up socks I made no body can get over their heel).
I'm also doing the fish lips kiss heel which I don't do often, this is the inside and how pretty is that heel looking lol
Spinning news!
I've not managed to ply the countess ablaze singles yet but hopefully this week.
I'm still working on the garter stitch captured colours shawl, but slowly lol I've wound another handspun yarn to cast my son on a hat. Think that's it craft wise, I feel like I'm on a go slow but I'm just so tired all the time lately.

A little bit of spinning :)

Knitting news!
I finished the odd WYS signature 4ply socks, these are for friend. I used owl and wood pigeon with poppy seed heels. I think these are quite fun, they'll hopefully fit and be comfortable lol
I've cast on another captured colours shawl but I'm doing this one with garter stitch rather than stocking stitch, I'm using Norah George yarns in the Krum colourway.
I'm also knitting some hello gorgeous fingerless mitts (by Lisa Tomko) in the yarn tree life's a beach colourway to go with my reyna shawl. The lace is different but I think they'll look good together. I'm using 2.25mm needles so these are light but hopefully still warm, I've been after some 4ply mitts for a while :)
Spinning news!
I've spun some countess ablaze fibre gifted to me by Lucy, this is Shetland dream, a Shetland/Yak/milk protein blend fibre. I got 122m form 103g of a 2ply, with some singles left over.
I've started spinning some more countess ablaze fibre, also form Lucy, this is Vengeance, a merino/baby alpaca/bamboo blend.
This fibre feels really nice and the colours in it are stunning, it wanted to spin and little thinner (though still thick and thin) than I've been getting recently so I'm hopeful for a decent yardage lol
Been very busy this past week, it was my sons birthday so we went to alton Towers to visit Cbeebies Land, he loved it. He's been watching tour videos on youtube for well over a year and he got to experience it for himself...and meet Iggle Piggle, he was well and truly thrilled :) He didn't want to come home lol

Knitting update

Sorry it's been so long, it's difficult to keep up to date with anything during the school holidays. After my son finished summer school we went on holiday, it was nice, the views were stunning, and he took his shoes off on the beach without freaking out, I was very proud of him :) We've also been to Blackpool a couple of times, the rest of the time we've been local but either hectic or tired...or both lol I've done a fair amount of knitting but no spinning sadly, thought I'd share all I have managed though.
Knitting news!
Whilst on holiday I made my son a pair of wellie socks, knit using West Yorkshire Spinners DK sock yarn on 3mm needle, I used the toasty explorer pattern by Joeli Caparco on ravelry.
I made a blanket for my sons Iggle Piggle toy, I used the ten stitch blanket pattern (free on ravelry). Yarn is unknown scraps from my stash, gifted to me by anther knitter without a ball band.
I finished the mad woman with a yarn box sock, I used the bootstrap pattern by Lara Neel but modified the heel slightly, yarn is by the yarn tree and knit on 2mm needles, from her SuperWhoLock box.
I made another pair of modified bootstrap socks on 2.25mm needles, in Norah George yarn, the first of her Dobby's handknit socks colourways. I had some gauge issues so the heel is a little looser than my usual sock but it'll still get worn :) I like that these are odd but still matching :)
I'm thinking of making some washcloths for my family members this Christmas so been making a few random ones from the selection of patterns I have in my ravelry library.
I've just finished a test knit for Chrissy of the stitched together podcast, this is the captured colours shawl, knit with 1 skein of fingering weigh yarn; I used 98.2g of the yarn tree merino/nylon/stellina in the princesses colourway (from her Disney box) on 3.75mm needles.
The bakery bears podcats have been hosting a summer of socks KAL in their ravelry group and at the end of August people are submitting their stack of socks, I got 9.5" from 8 pairs of adult socks. Far from the highest but I'm happy with all I managed :)
New on the needles is an odd pair of WYS socks, I've a ways to go but I hope the two colourways I've picked will look good together :) I had some issues with gauge, I cast on with DPNs (first time in  a very long time) and when I measured them after the cuff they were actually a size smaller than stated, so I switched to magic loop and my usual needles.
Still on the needles but not touched is the wasabi whale toy for my son and the super chunky ten stitch blanket. I've plenty more plans but have yet to cast them on...mainly coz it's mostly socks and I prefer to knit on one pair at a time lol
