spinning!

Started spinning my first cheviot fibre, I intentionally spun chunky but think it now may be too chunky lol oops! Was hoping for the yardage for a small pattern but really sure that isn't gonna happen as need approx 100m and only ever got that with thinner yarn...it's an outlander pattern as I'm totally in love with the show and I'm a big nerd lol but never mind I casn use bought instead of handspun...or try again later lol
Fibre is from Fondant Fibre in the Orbit colourway :) really nice but hoping I don't ruin it by spinning so fat lol Totally new to cheviot so wasn't used to how I now know to predraft merino based fibres to get an approx thickness, though I'm still a bit dodgy all round at spinning lol
Wish me luck lol

Squares mailed :)

Finished the two 12" squares for the bakery bears and sent off their goody bag :)
The green square is acrylic, the brown and oatmeal fleck square is merino/cashmere blend, there is also a few packs of haribo, and some loom band bracelets, a lego man with cup and tablet, a tree of life keyring, some stitch markers, an 80cm 2mm circ, a knitted pumpkin and a crocheted cuff/wristlet :)
I made the key ring and stitch markers myself, as well as the knitted/crocheted items, I even picked out all the parts for the lego man he's unique :)
Hopefully they'll like their bits and bobs and the squares will fit in with their blankets :)
I'm totally wanting some stunning yarn from babylonglegs again, but since it's Yarndale in a few days I'm  trying to resist lol but my oh my it's pretty (daily insanity) and it's the semi-precious so I know just how stunning and luxurious it feels too lol

spinning, knitting and update

I am so rubbish at keeping up with things lately,I feel like I do loads and nothing at the same time :)
I finally finished spinning the summertime blues from fondant fibre lol took ages but it's lovely, still needs washing and drying but really like the colours :)
I finished the second (merino/cashmere) 12" square for the bakery bears blankets :) along with a few bits to pack up for them and post.
I've made a small family of pumpkins, an easy pattern to remember and I've made smaller versions so not just all the same :) my son has decided putting them in his mouth then throwing them is fun...not for me lol
Still working on the lovely scarf and the socks, still worried about fit though lol
I'm going to Yarndale this weekend, very exciting :) though gonna be bad for my bank again lol not like I need yarn or fibre but I have very little self restraint lol
My wheel has a layer of wax and a couple layers of primer in the appropriate places, the wheel still needs painting, I'm hoping duck egg blue but see if I can find the spray paint at a decent price.
I've started a glass fusion course and I'm terrible at cutting glass so should be interesting lol and doing a parenting course for special needs families...so all the time I was supposed to have whilst my son started his new nursery/school place is being eaten up by those and appointments and being super tired. Not good as sleeping really badly lately...
And on that note I'm gonna go to bed as I've another long day tomorrow...

Jazz Club #1 +

My first parcel for fondant fibres jazz club arrived :)
My 100g fibre is super soft and the colours are nice and bright without being too garish :)
I also got a pair of ear rings made by Hannah age 11.5 years :)
I've made a small set of stitch markers for the bakery bears, I'm guessing Kay will use them more than Dan as they are a bit girly lol putting together a bit of a pack for them including the finished acrylic square and am on the wool square now (merino/cashmere blend).
Peters scarf is coming along though slowly lol and the colours look fabulous :)
I'm getting worried the socks aren't going to fit, wish I could get them tried on but just gotta hope for the best.

update: laalbear and socks

Sorry it's been so long between posts, my son has just started his second year of nursery but going to a school so longer days and taking some getting used to lol
I recently found out that Laalbear is giving up dyeing after her shows this year and I remembered I have a skein of hers from Yarndale last year, it wasn't in my ravelry stash so wondered if I showed it or not. It's really soft and the colours are brilliant, love the autumn feel :) If I make it there this year I'll have to get some more :)
I've been rather slowly working on my first pair of two at a time toe up socks, and I just finished the fish lips kiss heel, which I had to do one at a time coz couldn't figure out how to do it and not get all tangled with both on the needles, but I then got both socks with completed heels back on the two circs to carry on with the legs and cuffs :)
I won some buttons and a knit girllls pen and they arrived today, very exciting, but what project to do to include these wonderful handmade buttons...?
I've also still been working on the scarf in babylonglegs sock merino, though had to order a second skein as it seems to be eating though yarn.
I have, as always, got new things on they way lol some fibre, project bags and yarn on serious sale :)
I also bought some beeswax, still need primer and paint for my wheel, a little kiwi 2 when it's finally prepped and built lol looking forward to using that and my learner turk, both from ashford :)

Newnesses and pumpkin

The lovely Deb over at Fondant Fibre recently had an update, I was quite good and restrained myself for about a day, until I realised she still had some Frozen fibre in stock lol then I caved. It's a 200g set with two different fibres in two different colours, one for each of the sisters in Frozen :) Aren't they stunning, especially the top one!
I also ordered my first gradient while I was being bad anyway lol
Then Felt Fusion had a sale too so made the most of that :) I only got one fibre, purples in a merino/silk blend :)
Yarn wise I got (all sock weight): top left is my first angora/merino/nylon blend, all others merino/nylon blend in lovely colours, though slightly duller in real life but very nice.
I also finished my second pumpkin this year :)
I've been working on the socks, though don't seem to be making much progress lol and the scarf is coming on rather slowly but surely lol
Been a stressed and hectic week (my son started his new school, in the nursery year) and it's longer days and much more emotional lol
