Odd socks & the cat in the hat ♡

Knitting news!
I finished my second pair of opal minis (from the advent calendar) socks. Pattern is called vanilla is the new black and was a new to me heel, I cast on with 2.25mm but needed to change to 2mm for the heel. I'm not loving the fit, the foot maybe should have had a couple extra rounds, but the heel isn't reinforced by slip stitches n I'm hard on socks. It's unlikely I'd make myself a second pair but I may try them for someone else. I do love how they look though :)
I've also done a couple of repeats on my hitchhiker and am working on square 5 (of 6) of the ten stitch blanket for my son.
Spinning news!
Still nothing, I'm a spinning fail :(
Goodies!
My second surprise sock box arrived from the yarn tree & it's awesome, I'm looking forward to knitting with it. The theme was the cat in the hat and it contained:
100g sw merino/nylon sock yarn
Stitch markers and hat progress keeper
Drawstring project bag
Love heart sweets

Update: Taurus time

Knitting news!
I made a Taurus (blue) washcloth for my step dads birthday out of 100% cotton.
I also made a pink one for my aunts birthday :) I used 3.25mm needles but still slightly rectangular (approx 5x6") instead of square. To get square I think I'd need to use 2.75mm or 3mm with dk cotton...might be a bit tough on the hands lol
I'm making some vanilla is the new black socks out of 5 opal minis from my advent calendar :) I'm on sock 2, not sure this heel is for me but it is nice...though a little tough on the hands by the time it's got a few increases :) I've not touched the fifth blanket square for a few days or the hitchhiker for a couple weeks, I want it just not liking the increasing row lengths n not half way through yet lol the ten stitch pattern & washcloths may have made me a bit lazy lol
Spinning news!
Again none sadly.
Goodies!
The muslin fabric arrived to make bath/scent bags for my sons teachers and TAs to go with the washcloths. I think it's cute :)

FOs and Potter yarns

Knitting news!
I made myself some Hermione's everyday socks in fondant fibre MCN high twist and I love them.
Knit on 2.25mm, one is more green than the other but I don't mind that :)
I'm making cotton washcloths for the teachers and TAs in my son's school, as there are 10 or 11 I thought I better get started lol also hoping to make a bath bag with rosemary and chamomile too, which if they don't want to use in the bath can be a scent sachet.
The washcloths so far are knit on 3.75mm so are approximately 5x7" instead of square, new needles are on order for the ones that need to be square (3.25mm).
ABC red cotton washcloth
123 blue cotton washcloth
Acorn brown cotton washcloth
Scissors pink cotton washcloth
Coffee lilac cotton washcloth
Pencil red cotton washcloth
No spinning news!
Goodies!
My Harry Potter (left) and I've found you a seeker (right) high twist sock yarns arrived from Norah George and are beautiful...especially that yellow, so saturated, I love it!
My surprise sock box will be coming soon from the yarn tree :) I look forward to seeing the theme this time.

FO & goodies!

Knitting news!
I finished the Hermione's everyday socks for my mum. Knit in West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS) signature 4ply in the owl and poppy seed colourways on 2mm needles.
Spinning news!
Sadly there is none, aside from my recent return to novice-hood lol my son is home from school on holiday and has been poorly too, still is but slowly getting over it.
Goodies!
I ordered the coffee with CC book and she sent my instagram prize with it, the pink ball of lang yarn.
My minis arrived from the yarn tree; 6 are merino/nylon/stellina and 4 are merino/nylon, all are gorgeous :)
My spring box from the yarn tree also arrived, I ordered the complete set of 4, this is just number 1 and adorable. It contained;
a beautiful skein of BFL/nylon sock yarn in the narcissus colourway
a daffodil stitch marker
a stunningly hand painted wine glass
a bag of daffodil bulbs
In other news I totally ordered some stunning yarns from a new to me indie dyer (Norah George on etsy), who has a glorious selection of Harry Potter themed yarns, and has the option of a high twist base (which I appreciate as I'm a loose knitter and can use 2.25mm instead of 2mm needles).

Update: All the socks

Knitting news!
I finally cast off my mother's day socks :) I seriously love this yarn colour, it was in my mother's day box (flowers for mum colourway) by the yarn tree and I did a modified bootstrap sock (pattern from sock architecture). I made a bit of a mistake but I did it on both so the at least match in their wrongness lol (the cuffs are on 2.25mm and so are a tad loose at the top of the leg).
I cast off square 4 of 6 for my sons blanket. I'm using the ten stitch blanket pattern from ravelry and cascade 220 quatro. I've also cast on square 5 but it's going slowly for reasons you'll soon see :)
Sock time lol
I also cast on and off a pair of devil's snare socks in fondant fibre hardy high twist (swim with dolphins colourway). I really enjoyed knitting these, the lace was a little tough on my finger tip but it was a really enjoyable pattern, and I read a chart so I'm extra pleased with myself :) These can also be posted in the inside number 23 and the knitting broomstick Harry Potter kals on ravelry.
I also cast on with some west Yorkshire spinners signature 4ply for the first time (it's a little splitier than I'd anticipated but it knits up nicely), I'm knitting the Hermiones everyday socks pattern (also a new to me pattern). The pattern is difficult to see in the patterned yarn but I actually really like it as I've carried on. I'm now on sock 2. These will also be eligible for the above mentioned kals, not only as they are a Harry Potter character inspired pattern but they are also in the owl colourway (with poppy seed heels, toes and cuffs).
Spinning news!
I attempted to do some spinning, with difficulty lol I bought some gorgeous new bobbins from akerworks and I'm finding it difficult to get tension right. Of course it could also be that I haven't span on my wheel since before xmas. Needles to say I got frustrated with under and over spun yarn that kept breaking. I'll try again after the school holidays but it was a set back I had not anticipated.
Goodies!
I've a few on the way but no new ones with me yet. I have, of course more the yarn tree themed boxes on the way (spring is next from her four seasons collection), but I've also found a new to me dyer, Norah George on etsy, with some Harry Potter colourways I fell in love with so thought I'd give her a try :)
I've also a couple of knitting books ordered, geek knits, and coffee with CC to name but a couple.
