Non mystery KAL 1 completed!

Gutted I didn't finish first or second as they get the full pattern (all size version) free but it's a really cute knit, shame not more girls in the family to make it for.
The lime and yellow looking better as more vibrant, think this one going to charity. Wanted to send some baby clothes to UK hospitals for babies in ICU or preemies but turns out you aren't allowed anymore so probably gonna end up in Africa, there's The Baby Pack Project which seems a nice one.
Still need to do the sleeves for the lime and yellow one.
My Harry Potter book arrived :) may not make any of it but wanted it...and maybe I will finally get around to something out of it...you never know lol
Also, I picked yarn for Milo May :) Red and Lime! Weird comb?
Right I'm off, hoping to get the sleeves of non mystery KAL 2 cast on tonight.

Non mystery KAL body number 2

The yellow and lime body is finally done...
Now I need to do the sleeves for both this one and the cream and yellow one (see previous post).
Worried I'm gonna run out of the green yarn as using scrap...keep your fingers crossed for me!

Behind! + WTJ + ATCs

Sorry still not finished the body of the second non mystery KAL...need to catch up as the clue for the sleeves has been uploaded...just been a long, hard week.
I've done the drop something with paint on it page in my wreck this journal; I scrunched up a small piece of paper and put metallic pink paint on it, then dropped it. I closed the book while the paint was still wet, hence the two pics, one has a bit on the left page too lol
I've also done some prep work on other pages, and a couple of artist trading card style pieces to send as mail art.
The Other Mother from the film Coraline is in the post to someone in Devon (I think lol). I used; acrylic paints, fine liners, pencil and biro.
I also did one that I love, a jellyfish card, I used; fine liners, ink and a blow pen. I don't know why I love this card so much but I really do.
I've also done a slightly bigger one, the background is a page form a book. I used stencils and blow pens to make the sea side image, the writing on it says "Twilight over the sea, brings joy and happiness to thee." I think this one will be going to whoever I get allocated from the group I'm in to post mail art from an online course I did last year.
I then did a sunflower ATC with an opposite side that has a book page on and some prints form blow pens with stencils and biro detailing (moon, stars and wave). This one is also in the post, to Canada if memory serves, found recipient through IUOMA website.
Lastly I did a palm tree ATC that I'm kinda hating but trying to stick to what I start (this may not work out as time goes on lol). Background is painted with acrylic paint, used biro to draw the pictures and felt tip pens to add colour to the palm tree (which is the bit I don't like). This one is on it's way to South Africa, recipient found on IUOMA website.
So basically I really need to catch up on my knitting and try to practice drawing coz my skills are seriously lacking.

Non Mystery KAL body number 1

I cast off the body for the first cardigan KAL I cast on, just the sleeves to go then all done.
Thinking this one may go to charity and the yellow and lime one be for my cousins bump :) I made a slight mistake on the button band, accidentally purled to end so not got the ridges on one section (didn't notice till an inch later so it can stay that way lol). It's also longer than it was meant to be as it didn't seem to be growing so just knit for a while and next time I looked it was almost an inch too long...ooops!
I better pay better attention on the body of the next one lol

WTJ - Sat, Sun, Mon

I did another page on Saturday: colour this page, I covered it in two shades of pink metallic paint and decorated with felt tip pens. The left page (near the spine) says "Tears or sorrow, Tears of joy, Tears for a kiss you'll always miss!" inside the butterfly it says "Live Free" and on the right it says "The heart wants, what the heart wants!"
On Sunday I decorated the page opposite the sell this page (that still needs more than the letters colouring in). I painted the background with blue metallic paint, decorated an old book page with stencils and blow pens, then stuck the book page in. I then blow penned the star fish on and drew on the moon. The moon is painted in silver glitter paint. Very sea side themed.
On Monday I used pink, orange and green post it note strips (tabs) and yellow butterfly post it notes to decorate the office supply page. There's also an old business card on there and a few paper clips, then I covered the whole page in mod podge (hopefully that'll stop anything falling off).
I also started the sew this page, no sewing yet but decorated the backgrounds. The left side is blue with silver stars like the jumper the other mother made Coraline and the right is a drawing/painting of the other mother from the film. I love Neil Gaiman so glad to have a page dedicated to him in my journal :) going to sew a couple of Coraline buttons on the page but need to go to my LYS to buy them.
Today the next non clue was released for the baby cardigan KAL so likely to be working on that for the next couple of days. Also back into routine of nursery and therapy for my son and I've the last week of my course this week. Then further research I'd like to do.
Also signed up to the International Union of Mail Artists to keep artistic even after the journal is finished. Plus my old mail art group from a Coursera course I did is starting up again, just once a month I think. This months theme is the season you're in (so I'll be doing Spring), will probably do another blow pen seas side type thing to send.
Happy Crafting everyone!

WTJ + Crafty Creatives Box

I did a page in my journal this morning (it's only afternoon so there may be more later). I did the title page with doodles: moon, stars and sun, jigsaw pieces, foot print, eye, leaf, cupcake, fish, snail and hot air balloon. The back of the cover I sketched a crescent moon and painted with glitter paint, it's a bit more transparent than I thought but that's ok.
I got a parcel today :) I had to collect it from a neighbours...
And when I did, it was in a pink plastic parcel bag...and inside that was my Crafty Creatives Box. It was rather exciting, my first one. I'm not going to join every month (as can't always afford) but it's in interesting idea, to get a surprise craft box each month and be able to try something new. If you can already do it you can show of your skills on their facebook all the same and maybe win a free box the next month.
Upon opeing I saw it was something I've never tried before...quilling. I'm rather nervous as not only have I not done it before but am worried I won't have the patience for it lol I'm an instant gratification kinda girl lol
You get some quilling strips and some other bits and pieces to make something wonderful and vibrant.
You also get a book called 'The Complete Quilling Handbook' to show you how to do it and some patterns/designs to make up. There's a toadstool one and if I do figure it out that'll be what I make, coz they are awesome lol :)
It was a nice thing to receive and hope I actually use it.
Took my son on an egg hunt today (even though we aren't Catholic), he had fun running round and did no hunting at all lol he still got the sweety bag though :)

Non Mystery KAL the second part 1

I decided to cast on a second of the KAL pattern in lime and yellow, here it is at the end of part 1...part 2 due Monday.
Looking forward to being able to carry on with it :)
Happy crafting!

Wreck This Journal - Thursday

I've done a few more pages in my journal though seem to be slowing down now, partially waiting for paint to dry and partially coz keep knitting and going out (I take it with me but only get a page or so done rather than pages like at home where all my supplies are) lol I've started a second non mystery KAL (same project just different colours), this one is lime and yellow, much nicer (in my opinion). I'm further than this but not got another pic yet, I've about 3/5 rows to go before this one is also finished (until the next clue on Monday). Found these two colours in the depths of my stash so still not had to buy more yarn. Though I did the other day when a charity shop had brand new yarn for super cheap, me n my friend went a bit nuts lol lets hope am not allergic to it. I once bought loads of cheap yarn and my hands and wrists went really red and sore, basically my eczema flared up and had to give it all away :(
In the WTJ I've decorated the instruction page: I used felt tip pens and just doodled really. There's a sun, sheep, feathers, book, crab, leaf, snail, star fish etc.
Then I stuck some nice new mum quotes on the smush something colourful here page and then covered the page in metallic paint (I had to rub some off with a detol wipe so text still visible).
I also decorated the information page (when printed, and copyright etc. on left under lots of paint), has yellow blobs (meant to be stars) and says "Wishing on a star!" (but hard to see in the picture) the warning page is just full of doodles too: sun, pig, cloud with hidden sun and lightening bolts, leaf, tree, fish, eye, lips, foot print etc.
All the painted bit were done with my fingers which was kinda fun, but messy lol I even got some on my rug...ooops! Still lots of pages to do, but slowing down with how many I do in a day.
Can't wait for clue two for the non mystery KAL (link in my previous post).
Happy crafting!

WTJ + non mystery KAL

Done the drip and print page form my journal, forgot to take a pic of drips before I pressed the pages together...ooops! Done with metallic acrylic paints. I think the result looks rather like an animal head, I think an owl, what do you think?
I also took the journal to a craft group I've never been to before and asked them to draw on the public page, here's what I got:
I also cast on for the non mystery KAL last night, needed a distraction. Finished part one today as only short section, the body and arms will likely take longer. If anyone wants to take part the pattern is still available on Tikki Knits blog. There is also a group on ravelry that people can join in. I was going to do cream and baby blue but my cousin doesn't know if having a boy or girl so needed neutral. May do a contrasting one in a larger size when baby is born and it's getting cold again.
(needed to go and do another row as needed to end on an even number, I got confused as said repeat last two rows until specified length but you had to end with the first of the rows)
May get some more journal done tonight, see what happens as lots to do at the moment.
Happy Crafting!

Wreck this journal - home

Posted it yesterday and it's back home where it belongs :) Happy Tuesday! lol Some of the masking tape is a little torn but seems ok other than that :)

Non Mystery KAL

I really want to take part in Tikki Knits non mystery KAL, you can find information over on her blog here!
Unfortunately my hand is still itchy from my tattoo so can't knit yet, hoping I can catch up when I can cast it on...fell lost having not knit for so many days in a row. The wreck this journal was helping coz I had something else I could carry around and work on but it's currently in the post to myself lol
Anyway I'd best get ready, taking little man out today :) Eureka!
Happy crafting!

Wreck This Journal - Monday

All I've done today is tape the edges of the book so I could post it to myself...
Hope it doesn't get lost in the mail, or take forever to arrive, sent by large 1st class letter. Sent one to my friend on Friday the same way and it arrived Saturday so should be ok.
When it arrives I'll get working again :) Masking tape shouldn't damage the book but depends if the post office clerk stuck the stamp over the tape on how easy it is to remove.
Happy Crafting!

Wreck This Journal - Sunday

I did a few pages on Sunday :) Starting with 10 ideas on more ways to wreck a journal and a doodle on the blank page :)
01 write a secret, burn it
02 cut up an old tee, decorate it and stick it in
03 find an old sock, make a puppet, stick it in
04 try on different lipsticks, kiss a page over and over
05 stick a page form your favourite book in
06 stick an old love letter in, write over it why it didn't work out
07 collect your favourite sweet wrappers, stick them over a whole page
08 take it on holiday, stick things in it, spread things on it
09 dedicate a page to somebody
10 decorate a page, let a friend add to it
Then I tried to write with the pen in my mouth, this was surprisingly difficult lol It says "Life's a climb, but the view is great" (quoted rather sadly form the Hannah Montana movie lol) and scribbled hills and an eye on it too.
I then tried to enjoy a cup off coffee...it didn't work out too well, my son kept trying to put cars in it. But when he wasn't doing that I dipped a double decker in it and dripped from the chocolate bar to the page. It was delicious :) I stuck the wrapper over the page and outlined the coffee drips as I drink really weak brews and wasn't sure they'd be very visible. There is also a chocolate smudge at the bottom of the page.
After that I worked on the scribble page, she has crazy hair, so much so that there appears to be a lost cat in it lol inspired by a book written by Neil Gaiman, funnily enough called Crazy Hair :) Her hair is much crazier than my version though lol
I 'lost' the torn out page, really I hid it on top of a book case at my mums, wanna see how long it takes her to find it lol
Then I doodled over the text page and wrote part of one of my favourite poems on the other side, it's by DH Lawrence called Wild Thing. It's mostly commonly known for being quoted in the film GI Jane. I think this is one of my favourite pages so far :)
I also wrote carelessly, I wrote a poem on either side of the page, and scribbled colour for the background.
Lastly for the day I wrote out the poem from the film 10 Things I Hate About You. Each line in a different colour and the last line is at the top and ends at the very bottom...
I'm enjoying the pages but looking over them I really need to work on making them look nicer...I like the ideas just not the execution for all the pages.
Happy crafting!

Wreck This Journal - Saturday

I may have an addictive personality lol I can't knit so I'm going overboard with the journal pages...gonna make me nervous to post it lol
Write along the edges instruction...
So I did...Never forget is to remind people that though some memories may be painful, they join together to make us who we are...the dots are in the colours of the gay flag. I think that no matter your sexual orientation; lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, you should be treated equally.
I drummed with felt tip pens so the colours would be brighter :) feel the rhythm...I don't have any so you probably won't lol
Torn out and ready to be lost...
Coloured the spaces in the letters like a school girl but I did as I was told...
Check out my new hat lol
Drew around my left hand and put a heart on the ring finger as it's commonly associated with love. The quote is from a poem in a book I once read and never forgot, and it's true, the complete poem is:
People die...so love them every day,
Beauty fades...so look before it's gone,
Love changes...but not the love you give,
And if you love, you'll never be alone!
I tried to join the dots with my eyes shut three times, each in a different colour and numbered at the top, as you can see I wasn't very good at it lol I have a lack of coordination. I decorated the black spots as soot gremlins/sprites from the Ghibli movies as they are awesome :) I love how the hole punched (sticker) eyes are the same size so make the different sized sprites have different expressions lol
That's all for Saturday, lets see what Sunday brings...

Wreck this journal - Friday

I did some more in my journal :)
Traced the outline of some items form my pockets and bag (not all coz I have far too much stuff with me all the time lol) I traced with coloured pencils and wrote what the item was supposed to be too lol
Then I did the white coverd page, this has on it a tissue, baby wipe, nappy tab and some yarn, after the photo was taken I also added a sticky label. I have a feeling this will have some more things added over time.
Then I did the trace your toes page, since I really don't do toes I traced around part of my hand and my sons foot. He was so good as to let me that when he wanted to colour some of the page I let him :)
I cut through multiple layers of the journal with star shaped hole punchers and showed the left overs to the top right to prove it's more than one layer lol
The rub dirt on it page seems incomplete so may add more one another day out :) it was rather dry yesterday so not muddy enough to get a good spread. So you'll probably see this page again lol
After rubbing dirt on my page at the park I also decided to write the word ducks over and over again while my son threw bits of dirt in the pond near the park :)
This page is to be continued so you'll definitely see it again...filling the page with circles but with doodles on them too. It may not look like it but I assure you each drawing is full of circles and the sun has dots in the middle of the circles too as not as well defined in felt tips as it was for the rabbit (that looks kinda like a cat cross bread lol hence the caption in circles too) in the fine liners. Watch out for the completed page.
The sticky page I cheated on, I didn't like the idea of gum and things in my book so decided to use stickers instead. All the stickers are things that I like or am interested in, or my son likes :) not as covered as I thought it'd be but I like it :)
Again I don't do bugs so I cheated, stuck stickers of bugs in my journal instead. Plus dead things in your book can't be very hygienic, or is that just me lol !?
I've stuck a postage mark on my stamps page but not really had much mail so will take a pic when a few more on it, and that'll be another page that grows over time...if anyone wants to mail me something so I can have a stamp that'd be cool :) lol
Happy crafting!
